Mind and Body Power Motivational Quotes – Work Balance

Searching for the elusive work-life balance, we usually believe that work is the main constant and the other aspects of our lives need to alter for us to find balance. There are a few things that we need to really ask ourselves:

  • What are the 3 most important things in my life?
  • What do I need for my stress levels to reduce?
  • Can I work smarter rather than harder in some areas of my life and achieve better results?

There are some things that human beings need:

  • security
  • certainty
  • love
  • fulfilment
  • satisfaction

Are some of the reasons you do not have balance and see work as the main constant is because it is the only entity/place where you get your main needs met?

Would your life be more fulfilling if you were able to obtain the human needs from all aspects of your life?

Restyle Your Life Launch

Mind and Body Power is launching Restyle Your Life!

Restyle Your Life has resulted from the Mind and Body Power Health and Weight Sabotage Survey. Most of the respondents reported that life balance was the most difficult factor to obtain. This factor also contributed to lack of motivation to exercise, eat healthy and be organised.

Restyle Your Life is a way to help you find new ways to find balance that is achievable and that you can fit into your existing life with minimal effort.

Restyle Your Life is a fortnightly challenge of 5 things based on – mind, relationships, nutrition and/or activity – that can easily be fitted into your life. Unlike other challenges, Restyle Your Life challenges are things that you can fit into your  existing life to help you gain better life, health, family and work balance.

Gradual changes reduces anxiety, overwhelm and the need to return to comfort zones. It is easier to develop new habits with greater ease if they fit into your current lifestyle rather than changing your lifestyle to fit around new habits. Eventually, this will lead to leading a healthier, happier and more balanced lifestyle.

We want to develop a community of people who are undertaking the same challenges, supporting and encouraging each other.

The more support you have the more successful you are going to be. Invite your friends, family, FB friends, work colleagues to join the challenge with you.

I will be helping you with resources to keep you on track, support, advice and webinars.

Mind and Body Power Motivational Quotes – Comparison

Are you guilty of measuring or comparing yourself against others? Do you compare your strengths, body shape, looks, clothes, success, failures, weaknesses? I will tell you right now that you will be riding the unhappy train to self-pity, low self-esteem, poor self-image and poor body-image. You will never measure up to someone else because you will always find someone who is smarter, more successful, prettier, sexier, stronger than you!

What you are comparing is not the REAL picture! You are comparing your internal and external world to what you perceive the other person’s world looks like. This is not a fair comparison. Each and every person has their issues and on the outside may project a certain persona. If you asked the people, that you are comparing yourself to, I bet you, once you know their REAL story and get the REAL picture, they are not so different to you. These people who you perceive to be better in some way will have their own weaknesses, insecurities, imperfections. We all do!

The true measure of yourself is who you are and how you treat others. Comparison is superficial! Knowing who you are and living who you are (and moving closer to becoming a better person) is the true measure of humanity, your uniqueness and success!

Mind and Body Power Motivational Quotes – Achievement

Achieving in life is a perpetual cycle of constant movement. I believe that even in failure there is achievement as there are lessons to be learned, new opportunities that may arise, better understanding of oneself and growth. If you think about your achievements like a spiral staircase that creates a fluid motion – all directions are possible – up, down, sideways. Sometimes you need to stop and reflect on where you have been and where you are going.

Here are some quotes that may inspire you to start a journey, stay motivated or reflect.

Mind and Body Power Motivational Quotes – Belief

To be or not to be: that is the question

Nearly everyone knows of this famous quote from Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Until this day, this is still a pondering thought. Think of this quote more in this sense:

To believe or not to believe: that is the question

This is what you are really asking yourself every time you set out to achieve something new or set yourself a goal. There are 3 perspectives of this question that you need to answer truthfully not superficially:

  • Do I believe that I am capable of achieving?
  • Do I believe that I will achieve?
  • Do I believe in myself to achieve?

The answers to these questions will either help you to be successful, maintain focus, motivation and push past obstacles and fears OR attempt and either succeed or fail (that is in your hands).

Beliefs are created from early childhood and therefore, are the most difficult aspect of your identity to alter, if they are negative. You need to make clear and significant choices to change your belief systems if you believe that they are causing you to try and fail over and over again. Lack of self-belief is the number 1 killer of your goals and dreams. If you believe you can you will. Below are some quotes that may be useful. If you have any quotes please send them in to share with everyone.

Family Link – Key to Weight & Mental Health

The Mind and Body Power Health & Weight Sabotage Survey returned some really interesting results. This is the first email in the series to provide the outcomes, how it compares to my own theories and practical applications and the research.

For many years, I have consistently seen family links genetically, behaviourally and habitually in:

  • health
  • lifestyle
  • weight, and
  • mental health.

The current research is pointing to the links in these areas more and more. The inference from the survey results may also point to this link:

Food Addiction Leads to Death

In recent months there has been two stories of super obesity:

  1. US Woman trying to become the World’s heaviest living woman
  2. British woman in hospital dying from obesity.

The US woman has already made it into the Guiness Book of World Records as she was the heaviest woman to give birth. Now she is eating herself into the record books. She is motivated by money and fame with little regard for herself, her partner, her chil and her family and friends.  If people stopped paying her and giving her attention then she would no longer be externally motivated. I have visited her website and twitter account and she is constantly in the media. Her ego is out of control and reality seems to be elluding her. In  interviews she claims to be constantly having health checks and that she still exercises and eats healthy but how healthy are you when your entire system is under immense strain? She has also convinced herself that she is a good role model for her child. All of the research clearly shows that the mother is the role model for weight and health in most families and that same sex children follow closely in the footsteps of their parent. As a psychologist, I believe that she is self-harming and getting rewarded for it which is constantly feeding her addiction for the high of both fame and food. She has become addicted and as we know, fame and addiction are a dangerous combination.

Britain’s largest woman passed away on Saturday. Until the day she died she kept saying that, ‘if she was anorexic then she would have received the help that she needed’. Unfortunately, superobesity is a very difficult issue to manage and she may not have been managed appropriately. However, the patient and her family members were going against medical advice and sneaking in junk food. The woman was addicted to food and her family was providing her with her drug of choice, disregarding medical advice. You wouldn’t provide alcohol or cocaine to an addict who is in rehab so why provide junk food to a food addict? Her family provided her the drugs and she finally overdosed to the point where her heart and lungs could no longer take it. Food addiction is just as serious as other addictions, it only takes longer to cause illness and death.

Morbid and Super-obesity are specialised areas of knowledge. Many professionals who attest to working in weight management do not have the skills in working with morbid and super-obese clients. The main focus of management and treatment begins with the psychology behind the weight, food, lack of motivation, addiction etc. Working on changing diet and exercise habits is rarely successful within these areas of obesity. Change psychological and behavioural patterns and the rest will naturally follow.

If you are a food addict or know of someone you expect to be a food addict then the next blog post will be of interest:

Are you enabling an addiction?

The Mind & Body Program is the brainchild of psychologist and fitness coach Kellee Waters. It is a free resource offered to Australian familes to help combat the growing trend of obesity within the community.

Our sixteen week program targets obesity from a psychological foundation, with an individual and family perspective combining nutrition, activity and skill based education. Our holistic approach not only addresses the problems associated with weight gain and bad eating habits but also aspects such as a lack of motivation and activity, family stresses and a large array of additional problems with obesity for both adults and children.
