About

Why was the Mind & Body Power developed?

The issue of obesity, both at the individual and family level, is one that affects many facets of work and family life, from the obvious such as physical health issues, to the more abstract such as relationship issues, stress, self-confidence and social stigma (an issue for children that may affect them for the rest of their lives).

Over 3 million Australians are currently considered obese, a staggering proportion of our small population. Sadly this epidemic is rapidly growing, with this figure expected to reach 7 million by 2025. Even more frightening is that 25% of Australian children, our hope for the future, are already overweight or obese.

To combat this dangerous trend within Australian families there needs to be skill based programs, where the families can learn the skills they require   combat these problems. To make changes at the entire family level, a successful program needs to take on a new approach from those already in the market place. This is what Mind & Body Power offers. It is a program that targets obesity from a psychological foundation, with an individual and family perspective combining nutrition, activity and skill based education (not just information).

In the current tough economic climate, finding the additional funds to join weight loss programs and/or gyms and eat healthily is likely to be low on the priority list. One of the main premises of the Mind & Body Power program is that there is no requirement to purchase expensive diet food systems (e.g. diet shakes) or even join a gym. Results are achieved by means of educating families on a holistic approach by taking back control of their life and lifestyles. This addresses the problems associated with weight gain, bad eating habits, lack of motivation and activity, family stresses and a large array of additional problems with obesity for both adults and children.
